Fabric Research and Development Internship
Fall 2019 Trend Research and Sourcing for Women’s Outerwear
The goal of this internship project was to conduct a thorough research on the prospective trend for Fall 2019, which served as the basis for my material sourcing from Italy, Paris, and Asia.
Process of research required a deep understanding of the brand and consumer needs/ wants in order to clearly set the direction of the fabrics that is aligned to the brand's vision and aesthetics.
Fall 2019 trend for women's outerwear was categorized into 6 big trends:
plaid, small-scale pattern, textured, black and white, animal print, and faux fur.
Each sub-trend was then researched and images were collected to set a more concrete direction.
These images were then sent to fabric vendors all over the world to begin sourcing and developing for BR brand.
